Secos Y Mojados is an interdisciplinary art and performance troupe based in San Francisco.  We create multi sensory pieces focusing on immigrant narratives and border issues. The name is spanish for “Dry Ones and Wet Ones,”  evokes the effect that clandestine border crossings, through deserts, war, rivers and sea, have on the body of the migrant.

Members include: Victor Cartagena (El Salvador), visual artist; Violeta Luna (Mexico), performance artist: David Molina (Salvadoran American), musician, composer, sound Design; Antigone Trimis (Greece), dramaturge; and Roberto Varea (Argentina), stage director.

Their first piece “Buried in the Body of Remembrance” tells the story of a young women’s solo journey from El Salvador to the U.S.

In 2011 Molina created a hidden 16 channel soundscape for Cartegena’s installtion “Utpopia/Nightmare: The American Dream” (MACLA in San Jose), Hidden speakers inside floating pillows and shoes, murmured the testimonies of immigrants, rants by minute men, media propaganda.  Drones, sub frequencies, and amplified water drops penetrated the room. The space became activated and the set for the groups piece “A Body Parted: Shrapnel of Present time”. It featured Luna’s captivating Performance and Molina’s live score on electronics, cello, electric guitar, and dulcimer.
